History

run.Colorado Relay's was originally Roads Less Traveled Relays. Roads Less Traveled Relay's was owned/operated by Paul Vanderheiden. Paul had a vision and passion for how relay races should be organized and ran with the focus of the runner at the forefront. Paul also had passion for finding a way to connect our local communities with the running community. Through this combination Paul has created two amazing adventures in the beautiful state of Colorado that are second to none. Paul's countless hours leading up the inagural Wild West Relay in 2003 and his dedication to logistics, community, the running community over the years has created a legacy that is going to be continued for many years!

run.Colorado Relay's is beyond excited to take over the Wild West Relay and Flaming Foliage Relay in 2023. We are dedicated to continuing the legacy and relationships Paul has created since 2003 with energy, passion, vision, collaboration, and continued growth.

run.Colorado Relay's is dedciated to ensure a positive race experience for you with a sensitivity to our local communities and resources. We cap our relay race entries to ensure that the course isn't overcrowded, and so we can stage a race on the most scenic and picturesque trails an area has to offer.

run.Colorado Relay's is dedicated to providing you and your team with an experience of a lifetime. The building of camaraderie between your team and those you are running against, as well as sleep deprivation, van decorations, costumes, and silly inside jokes adds to the fun and uniqueness of a relay race.
